Squash is a fast moving, dynamic game and is a great way to improve your fitness. It exercises all the major muscle groups and provides an intense cardio-vascular workout. With matches generally lasting about 40 minutes, you can easily fit squash into your schedule, whether at the weekend, lunch-time, after work or during the retirement day.

The U.S Business magazine Forbes recently consulted with personal trainers, coaches and exercise physiologists. Out of 10 sports listed as being the 'healthiest' in terms of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, calories burned in 30 minutes, injury risk. Squash took first place!

British squash players excel at international level, and with the sport included in the Commonwealth Games there are now increasing pressures for squash to become an Olympic sport. England Squash and Racketball (ESR) is actively supporting this move.

Tavistock Squash Club was awarded a £65,000 grant from Sport England in 2015. This was wisely invested in an extensive club upgrade the foundation of which has continually been improved upon to make sure we can offer a high quality sports facility for many years to come.

Squash For Juniors

The development of junior players is one of the club's primary objectives. We have a number of experienced coaches available and over the years have built thriving "Academy" for boys and girls aged up to 18. This will offer the ability to reach whatever level is desired, but with the emphasis on being fun and enjoyable and helping kids keep fit and healthy.
